Projects

Solidarity against homelessness in Pankow

Our two-year pilot project "Solidarity Against Homelessness in Pankow," which grew out of the development project of the same name, was launched on November 1, 2025. The pilot project is funded by the European Social Fund Plus, using resources from the European Union and the State of Berlin.

It supports homeless, employable EU citizens in Pankow who are not entitled to social benefits, helping them find work and accommodation. Intensive socio-educational support helps create necessary conditions such as stabilization, employability, and documentation. At the same time, businesses are involved and advised to create employment opportunities.

Target audience:

The program targets homeless people with a migration or refugee background who lack access to the support system. They receive assistance with basic needs and are prepared for long-term employment subject to social security contributions. Requirements include, among other things, stable health and a B2 level of German. Companies offering internships or employment are also involved. A total of 30 people are participating.

Results:

Through workshops, consultations and internships, participants strengthen their ability to work and key skills such as reliability, teamwork and personal responsibility.

Cooperation partners:

Berlin Help Foundation, Emancipatory Self-Help Association, Steremat AFS GmbH

picasso

As part of the "Picasso Project" of beta gGmbH, participants from all workshops created a physical replica of Pablo Picasso's 1937 painting Guernica. The painting was created in response to the bombing of the Basque town of Guernica by fascist German and Italian air raids during the Spanish Civil War. It was first presented to the public at the World's Fair in Paris. After a world tour, the painting remained in New York until 1981. Today it is housed in the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid.

April 26, 2017 marked the 80th anniversary of the destruction of Guernica.

The project resulted in a version reduced to 70% of the original size, made from various materials. Adaptations and minor changes are intended to reference current events of 2017 (wars, refugees, hunger, etc.).

The replica was completed in spring 2018.

Level up

A project of MALI gGmbH and beta gGmbH.

Why level up?

Because traditional career guidance often misses the mark with young people.

Because we are breaking new ground – with media, events and real encounters.

We combine career guidance with experience.

We meet young people where they are and show them what is possible.
The goal:
“Level up” aims to break down existing barriers, inspire young people to pursue dual or school-based vocational training, and connect them with companies in a targeted manner.

MALI gGmbH has many years of experience in providing social and professional support to young people, especially those with special support needs.

beta gGmbH brings many years of extensive expertise in vocational training and practical skills transfer.
